RELOCATE ASIA · FREE STARTER KIT · VERSION 1.1 · 8 SEPTEMBER 2026

Turn “I could move there” into a practical next step.

A working kit for choosing a city, checking a rental and estimating the cash you need before arrival. Start with one city and one actual housing quote. This kit contains planning prompts, not current price quotes or immigration advice.

Allow 20–30 minutes for a first pass. Typed answers are not saved automatically. Print to PDF before closing, or keep a printed copy.

01 · YOUR MOVE IN ONE PAGE

Define a move you can price.

Your next step: eliminate vague requirements. “Good internet” becomes a test at the actual home; “near the beach” becomes a timed walk from the address.

02 · PRICE YOUR OWN MONTH

Separate monthly spending from move-in cash.

Choose one currency and convert every quote into it. Record the conversion date and include payment or conversion fees. The site’s common budget is a starting reference for one adult and an annual lease; it is not a quote for your household or dates.

Monthly expenseYour quote / allowance
Rent for your actual lease length____________
Electricity, water, building and cleaning fees____________
Internet and mobile service____________
Groceries, eating out and cafés____________
Transport, fuel, parking and upkeep____________
Insurance, healthcare and medication____________
Work, subscriptions, leisure and personal costs____________
Home-country commitments and other costs____________
Price-variation allowance you choose____________
Total monthly plan____________

Cash needed before and around arrival: add the first month’s plan, refundable deposits, flights, entry/document costs, temporary accommodation, setup purchases and a separate emergency reserve. If rent is prepaid for several months, add the extra months now and do not count them again when they become due.

Double-count check: does rent include internet or bills? Does the first payment include month one? A refundable deposit ties up cash but is not automatically a permanent expense.

03 · MESSAGE, VIEW, THEN CONFIRM THE TERMS

Start with a short enquiry.

Send the listing link or screenshot with this first message. Use your actual stay length, even if you may extend later.

Hi, is this exact apartment available from [date] for [length of stay]? We are [number] people. What is the monthly rent for those dates, and when can we view it?

If you are asking an agent to find options, add your area, rent ceiling and two essentials. Ask whether they charge you for viewings or finding a home. Confirm the exact unit and meeting point before travelling.

For a home you like after viewing

I like [unit/address]. Before deciding, please confirm: rent for [dates]; deposit; rent due upfront and the next payment date; electricity rate and billing method; water, internet, parking and other fees; and the notice and deposit-return terms. Is there anything else I must pay?

A clear chat or email reply can start the written record; compare it with the agreement before signing. Keep the listing link, date and replies together. Check who can rent out the home and receive payment. If you may extend, ask when you need to decide, whether the same unit will be available and whether the price could change.

For the Vietnam process and sources, read the Da Nang rental guide. These messages are planning prompts, not a guarantee that a provider or home is suitable.

04 · TEN CHECKS AT THE ACTUAL HOME

Inspect the address, not the photos.

Ask about flood exposure and access during heavy rain. Verify time-sensitive entry, riding and insurance requirements with the relevant official authority or provider; a city guide cannot establish your personal eligibility.

05 · YOUR FIRST WEEK

Keep the first steps manageable.

Before departureCheck official entry requirements for your passport and activities; arrange appropriate cover; keep document copies; confirm arrival accommodation and transport.
Arrival dayReach the confirmed accommodation, establish a working phone connection and locate basic food, water and cash/payment options.
Days 2–3Walk the neighborhoods, time your normal routes, test your work setup and view shortlisted homes.
Days 4–7Compare written quotes, read the agreement, record the inventory and payment receipt, and replace estimated costs with actual bills.

Use this as a sequence, not a deadline to sign a lease. Extend temporary accommodation if important questions remain unresolved.

06 · YOUR DECISION

What needs to be true before you commit?

A useful stopping rule: pause when a non-negotiable is unresolved, a quote is incomplete, or the cash required exceeds the amount you have set aside. Get the missing information before changing your plan.
